Misdemeanors & Felonies
Misdemeanor charges are less serious charges than felony charges. There are three degrees of misdemeanors in the State of Florida. The least severe is a 3rd degree felony, followed by a 2nd degree misdemeanor. The most severe is a 1st degree misdemeanor. Misdemeanors are offenses that are more severe than infractions or petty offenses, but that carry potential jail time and fines.
Felonies, like misdemeanors, are charged in three levels. 1st degree being the most severe and 3rd degree being the least severe. A felony is a crime that carries a potential sentence of more than a year of incarceration. Felonies charges are serious allegations that could hinder an individual’s ability to find employment and maintain all rights. For felony charges it is essential that you have an aggressive attorney who is willing to defend your rights and represent you.
